Northwestern College is a solid college with a Christian focus. Christian values are interwoven into every aspect of the college experience.

Image a community of people with the same values and beliefs striving for the same goals. Northwestern College is exactly that type of community. Centered on the belief in Jesus Christ, staff and students venture to learn and grow through His Teachings.

Structure of the School

Northwestern prides itself on its core values: Scripturally Grounded, Intellectually Challenging, People Centered, Culturally Engaging, Contagiously Christian. Students who attend this college must be fully committed in their belief in Christ and want to use their knowledge to spread His Message.

Attending Northwestern means participating wholeheartedly in learning, growing, and volunteering. Classroom academics are only a fraction of a student’s life at Northwestern. Most of the learning and demonstration of learning takes place in the daily life of the students.

Declaration of Christian Community

Students who are accepted to Northwestern must abide by The Declaration of Christian Community. The declaration informs students of the common goals and vision of the college as a whole. By accepting the terms, all parties are able to support one another to the greater goal of the school.

Students and staff voluntarily agree to abstain from drugs, alcohol, gambling, cheating, and premarital sexual relations. These activities are thought to draw people away from God. Additionally, students are to support their peers who stumble by succumbing to these types of activities. Attendance at chapel is also required.

Academics

Northwestern College offers the typical major programs of most other colleges; however, the main difference is that the college professors teach foremost to the truth of the Bible. Other majors offered at the school include a plethora of ministry opportunities: Children and Family Ministry, Christian Counseling, and Pastoral Ministry.

Students are required to take Biblical Worldview Curriculum. These courses are similar to general courses offered at other colleges; however, the major difference is that the classes are taught through the viewpoint of the Bible, which is God's Word.

Student Life

Northwestern College offers students the opportunity to participate in several venues outside of the classroom. The school offers Division III sports, student led clubs, outreach ministry groups, and theatre.

Students are encouraged to serve the greater community. A student contest called Light the Way invites students to form groups to tackle a community problem or simply give back to the community. Examples of past projects include donating mattresses to children from low income families, purchasing clothing for refugee families, and feeding the homeless.

Northwestern College offers a educational experience that is totally Christ-centered. Students attending this college are strong in their faith and wish to develop their lives that encompasses Christianity. Northwestern students choose to forego typical antics of most colleges and dedicate their lives to the teaching of Christ. The campus offers students the support and knowledge to grow into a Christian adult.
